Little Pregnancy Updates | 23 Weeks

Hello!

It's been a while, things haven't been really going great for my pregnancy. I have been under physical activities restriction on and off now, which means there's a lot of things I can't do! I can't imagine my body is so used to endorphins and dopamine and that restriction makes me kinda depressed of how little things that I could do. From 3-5 times exercises a week reduced to twice a month last month, it's frustrating! Not to mention all the other activities and work that I have to cut down too, hopefully I'll be clear soon!

Hitting That Reset Button

After months of wedding preparation, I finally able to get my normal life routine back. Piano practicing & teaching are always my priority to ease into my routine and usually it takes a while to get back into the practicing situation after all the chaos. Then my workout routine, cleaning routine, and etc etc. Being travelling so much over the last few months, my laundry chores could never ends (today my laundry basket doesn't look like mountain anymore, finally!).

And hello again to this space!

Excited yet fun September!

A post shared by Emma Soh (@emma.soh) on

Hello!

Figured I could pop in to say hi a little bit after my fun and exciting Dubai + Paris trip! We only booked the flight tickets one month prior and I barely had the time to do proper planning. Spent a few nights burning midnight oil just before flying off to Dubai. Quite adventurous for me I would say, I usually planned things ahead of time.

It was crazy hot 40 degree all day long in Dubai and I really couldn't bare with the heat, the heat basically coming off from the ground. Then we off the Paris and weather started to get chiller each day, although I expected it to be a little more chiller but the weather was just right for us!

I am so eager to organize all the beautiful shots from the trip, but I've a important event coming up this Saturday, so a short update until I've the time to do that!

54 Hours Offline | Koh Lipe Weekend Getaway

Hello!

Today is a Tuesday-blue/ post-holiday syndrome for me, as I just got back from a short weekend getaway from the beautiful island in Koh Lipe! It was a last minute trip and I was astounded by this amazing little island. That place is just serene and beautiful.

I decided not to get too busy with my phone and managed to went offline for the entire trip, total of 54 hours! So proud of myself LOL. If you're wondering there was WiFi in the hotel room but I decided not to get online, the trip was just too short for me to enjoy! Even photo taking alone took up so much of my time (there was 1000+ pics for this trip!).

Digital Detox Update: Benefits & Apps to Use!

I know it's been a while to do this update but I figured I should! Checking back my "Blog-To-Do" and starting to clear off my posts one by one. You may read my first post at https://goo.gl/bqOu0q as introduction if you have no idea what it is!

"How I benefited from Digital Detox"
1. I exercise regularly
I was really lazy about exercising, not a fan to sweat at all. After digital detoxing, I managed to keep up with my exercise routine at least twice a week. I usually do treadmills and swim. I'm surprise at myself to manage to keep up this good habit. It was hard at first, but after doing it for months, my body starting to like the routine and feel weird for not exercising.

2. I'm more organized
I was a very messy person before. I didn't how to organize my belongings, nor keeping up with my own life schedule. I was that kind of person who just do things I feel like doing at that time. By replacing my waiting time to organizing stuffs, I slowly learn how to organizing things. When I wait for my housemates or friends to head out for dinner, I use that time to organize a corner of my house than scrolling my phone, I'm using a planner to plan my schedule too!

3. I read books
I was only a text book person before, I wasn't interested in reading anything. By having more time to myself, I read. The first book I started was "A Monk Who Sold His Ferrari" by Paulo Coelho. I've been reading ever since then, mostly inspirational books.

4. I have better sleep and manage to wake up earlier
You probably heard about the blue light of gadgets that affect sleeps, and it is real! Cutting off the usage of gadgets before sleep helps in better sleep. Better still, replace your bed time routine from "Facebook" reading to "Real book" reading. You will see how it does the wonder to your life.

5. I'm more efficient at work and study
I am more concentrate in my work, study and piano practice.

"Apps I used"

I didn't use any apps for my second Digital Detox. The second time wasn't as hard as the first time, all I need is a strong mind. "Do I have to use my phone now?", "Is it necessary?", I'll ask myself questions like that. As I love to watch interesting K-dramas like many other girls do, I'll limit myself to only 1 Korean dramas to follow at the same time. Well we certainly still need some entertainment time. :)

1. Android products
Apps: "Break Free"

2. Apple products

Apps: "Moment"

Both apps track the total time and summary of your phone usage (eg: how much time you spend on Facebook, Instagram, games etc...). Try download and track your phone usage time, you'll be surprised! You'll realize the phrase we often hear: "no time to do this" or "no time for exercise" were all just excuses. You can read my how I used the apps in detail on my dayre on Day 250, 7th Sep 2015 or direct link > https://dayre.me/emmz_s/oKHW9Lnpgj.

5 Things You Should Know Before Creating A Blog/ Website

Hello there! Sorry for the MIA! I wasn't slacking nor procrastinating on blogging during this period of time. In fact, I was spending more time than usual on my blog. Some of you might have known that I've started to blog with my own domain 3 months ago, since then I encountered lots of issues. My friend who is a programmer had been very kind in helping me in creating the website but we were facing problems every now and then. Then he was busy with exams and work. Whereas for me, I can't do any editing but to only wait for him because I'm unfamiliar with that particular blogging platform.

At the end, we decided to change to another blogging platform that I'm more familiar with. It took me 3-4 days to complete the transition. So I think I should share some of my experience!

"What You Should Know Before Creating A Blog/ Website?"

1. Pick a user-friendly blogging platform.
Try choosing an user-friendly blogging platform and do some research before you started. My suggestion would be WordPress, Blogger and Wix. User friendly site = less headache.

2. Pick a good web hosting company for your domain.
If you're looking to get your own domain, pick a good hosting company. My hosting company is Serverfreak and I would say their customer service is very helpful and super responsive. Most of the time my programmer friend is busy and I had to reach out for their customer service for help, and they helped me solve in almost every issues I requested!

3. Pick a capable, responsive and responsible programmer.
If you want to have a lot of customization for your blog, you need a web programmer. Carefully choose a responsible programmer at a reasonable rate. Remember to request for monthly web maintenance too, you never know when you need a hand.

4. How much time and effort are you willing to manage your own blog?
I spent 3-4 days in transferring my blog to this new blog platform, and almost 2 weeks in customizing on my own. Well of course I did continue with my piano practice/ lessons, study and work but I couldn't write a new post with my undone blog. When I did the customization myself, my friend asked me: "you know how to customize your blog with coding???". It was a torture for me to do all the customization work on my own with my limited programming knowledge from my college days, but no one else will be helping me if I don't do it myself.

Ask yourself if you're willing to sacrifice your sleeps or friend hang-out before getting started.

5. Consistency in blogging.
Then comes the hardest part - the consistency in blogging. Like any other part time bloggers, I thought of quitting in blogging. It wasn't as easy as I'm a stay-in girl who likes to practice the piano with comfy clothes. The photo-taking, make up, editing and writing took quite a bit of time for me to deliver a quality post. But I've came up with a new goal to go along with blogging and it motivates me to be more dedicated to my blog! Yes some exciting news on the way so stay tune! :)
